Community 2031 - Planning for a prosperous and sustainable future

What is a Community Plan?

A community Plan is a high level document used to influence all other council plans and longer term decisions in Cloncurry Shire. All Local Governments are required by the Local Government Act 2009 to complete a Community Plan.

What process is Council doing to deliver the Plan?

Cloncurry Shire Council is partnering with James Cook University to develop the Plan for Cloncurry Shire. This partnership includes developing surveys and community conversations to develop goals and ideas for the future of Cloncurry.

Cloncurry township residents were visited by James Cook University students during June 2011 to complete a detailed Household Survey. If you missed this survey please click here to download household survey and drop into Council’s Administration Centre, Scarr Street Cloncurry.  Hard copies of the Survey are also available by dropping into the Council Administration Centre.

Consultation will continue throughout the community until September 2011. All sectors will be covered via surveys, community events, focus groups, telephone surveys and special school/youth events.

Event surveys will also be collected at local events including Stockman’s Challenge, Quamby Rodeo, Curry Merry Muster Festival and Cloncurry Expo. These will focus on visitor feedback to our events and tourism product and opportunities.
