In June 2014, Cloncurry Shire Council commissioned its upgraded Water Treatment Plant.
The new plant allows for the treatment and processing of 9 megalitres of water per day. This is a vast improvement from the previous plant which had the capacity to treat only 5.2 megalitres per day.
Overall the results to date have demonstrated that the plant upgrade is a great success with the quality of the treated water at higher standards than previously seen. The introduction of different and additional chemical dosing systems has refined the treatment process making this possible. This will also allow the Council to treat varying water quality and sources which the old plant could not achieve.
The new Water Treatment Plant as a great asset for Cloncurry’s growing community with the facilities to maintain quality drinking water for Cloncurry.
