Sheaffe St Roundabout Monument - Design Competition
Cloncurry Shire Council are commemorating the historic significance of the former town water supply well that was located at the Sheaffe Street/Daintree Street roundabout with the installation of a monument.
The monument design will be chosen from the competition entrants to symbolise Cloncurry’s historic significance. Artists are encouraged artists to submit design ideas / concepts that help conceptualise a monument that commemorated the historic significance of the former town water supply well that was formerly located where the Sheaffe Street / Daintree Street roundabout is currently found. The concepts/designs will be assessed by a judging panel with the winner to have their concept/design built on the Sheaffe Street/Daintree Street Roundabout.
Schools / Student Program & Open Program:
Entries Open: Monday 7 February 2022 @ 12:00am AEST.
Entries Close: Friday 25 March 2022 @ 11:59pm AEST.
Following the Competition the following judging period will be completed in the following manner:
Shortlisting (selection of each judge’s top three entries in each section): Thursday 31 March 2022 by 11:59pm AEST.
Judging: 5 April 2022 by 11:59pm AEST.
Prize announcement: 28 April 2022.

Schools / Student Program:
- First Prize = School ($1,000) Student ($500)
Open Program:
- First Prize = $1,000
- Second Prize = $500
- Third Prize = $250
*Please note all prize awards listed above will be provided as Cloncurry Buy Local gift cards.
All entries will be judged by a Judging Panel, who will have the necessary expertise required to assess the artwork designs.
In the event of a tie or no clear first place winner a tie break will be decided at the discretion of the Cloncurry Shire Council Councillors. The Judging Panel’s decision is also final.
The Competition Submission and Assessment Criteria:
Projects will be judged on the basis of originality, creativity, usability and connection to history and locality, design, and context. Make sure your design is new, exciting, and practical!
