Cloncurry Shire Council Announces Change in Deputy Mayor

Cloncurry Shire Council advises that Councillor Sam Daniels concludes his term as Deputy Mayor today, with Council resolving to appoint Councillor Vicky Campbell to the role during Council’s Ordinary Meeting held on Tuesday, 17 March 2026 from tomorrow, Thursday 9 April 2026.

Cr Daniels was appointed Deputy Mayor following the Post-Election Meeting in April 2024 for a two-year term, during which he has provided strong leadership and support to Council and the community.

Cr Daniels has previously served as Deputy Mayor during the 2020-2024 election term.

Mayor Greg Campbell acknowledged Cr Daniels’ contribution to the role.

“Sam brought stability and consistency to the Deputy Mayor role from 2020 and has provided good insight and support during his tenure. I thank Sam for his efforts over the last 6 years and look forward to both he and Vicky continuing as the Councillor representatives on Council’s Audit Committee” Mayor Campbell said.

Cr Vicky Campbell now steps into the role, bringing extensive experience as a third-term councillor and a strong commitment to the Cloncurry community.

“Vicky is passionate about the people of the shire and the Councillors unanimous decision to support Vicky becoming Deputy Mayor is recognition for her commitment to representing the people” Mayor Campbell said.

Cr Vicky Campbell said she was honoured to take on the role.

“After 10 years of serving the community as Councillor – the longest serving female, I am truly honoured to step into the role of Deputy Mayor. I look forward to continuing to represent and support every resident in the Cloncurry Shire” she said.

Cr Vicky Campbell will serve as Deputy Mayor until the post-election meeting following the declaration of the 2028 election.

Cloncurry Shire Council remains focused on delivering key projects, strengthening community services and advocating for the future prosperity of the region.
